The 2008 af2 Southwest Division Champion Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings will be conducting an open tryout for the upcoming 2009 season on Saturday, October 11th at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La. Anyone who feels they have what it takes to become a professional athlete is encouraged to participate.
Registration for WR’s, DB’s, and QB’s begins at 11:00 AM followed by registration for OL, DL, LB’s, and FB’s at 1:00 PM. Registration for Kickers begins at 3:00 PM. The tryout will be under the direction of BattleWings’ head coach Jon Norris and his staff. A non-refundable registration fee of $60 (cash only) is due the day of the tryout. Participants should come prepared with correct footwear for field turf and proper athletic attire (track spikes are prohibited). Participants will be tested in the 40 yard dash, 20 yard shuttle, and standing long jump. Kickers will be evaluated on accuracy and distance.

The Peoria Pirates coaching staff announces they will be holding open tryouts for those individuals wanting to be part of the team for the 2009 season. The tryout is open to any athlete, especially kickers, interested in playing for the Peoria Pirates of the arenafootball2 (af2) league.
Tryouts will be held Saturday, October 18th in Pekin, Illinois at the Pekin Dragon Dome located at 3401 Griffin Avenue, an indoor turf field. Participants are encouraged to wear shorts, t-shirts, molded or screw in cleats (no track spikes). Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with tryouts beginning immediately after. A registration fee of $60 (cash or money order only!) will be collected at registration. Participants will be required to sign a waiver prior to taking part in any activities. Events will include 40 yard dash, 5/10/5 Pro Shuttle, broad jump and position drills.
The Peoria Pirates have had approximately 60 players sign with an AFL, CFL or NFL team. The Pirates have appeared in four championship games in Coach Cowdrey’s seven seasons as head coach. The Peoria Pirates are looking to make it back to the ArenaCup in 2009.

The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz are conducting an open tryout for the upcoming 2009 season. The tryout will be held on Monday, October 6, at Indoor Soccer Arena located at 100 N. McCormick, Oklahoma City, OK. The tryout is open for all positions with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the tryout at 9 a.m.
Everyone who feels they have what it takes to be a professional athlete is encouraged to participate. The tryout fee is only $65 and includes a voucher for the 2009 home opener. Detailed information and pre-registration forms can be found at www.okcyarddawgz.com or by calling 405-228-3294.
The Yard Dawgz have signed players from open tryouts in the past. The Yard Dawgz were assigned seven players from the 2008 open tryout including kicker Ben Scott and WR/DB Jared Smith. The most notable tryout signing is former University of Oklahoma athlete, Howard Duncan, who was assigned to the Yard Dawgz in 2005. Duncan is now on the active roster for the Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League and started all 16 regular season games for the Destroyers in 2008 and 2007.
Coach McEwen is committed to helping players advance to the next level and has seen numerous players succeed in the AFL and NFL. Following the 2008 season, Yard Dawgz OL Kelly Butler was invited to training camp for the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.
“This is our first step in building our 2009 championship team,” said Head Coach Sparky McEwen. “We are excited about the quality of talent that we will be able to evaluate from.”
The Yard Dawgz compete within the arenafootball2 league with regular season games being played April through July in downtown Oklahoma City.

I was coached in Dallas, TX at RWKSkicking. com by Coach Rocky Willingham, Chris Shaw (NY Jets and record holder at Louisiana Lafayette) and Clinton Greyhouse (Ravens) I’ve also tried out with AF2’s team Manchester Wolves and Saturday I will be trying out with the team formerly known as the Chesapeake Tide…I grew up playing soccer since I was 5 years old making numerous all-star teams and traveling teams…I played until 8th grade, when I decided to try football…then went back to soccer as a freshman playing 4 years of Varsity Soccer at Sanford High School in Sanford, Maine, I also played 4 years of indoor soccer, I also played soccer 1 year at Central Maine Community College….In 2007 I was on the Notre Dame Cobras practice squad and this season was my 1st…In our 1-6 record season I’ve managed to kick 7 for 7 extra points, 13 kick-offs all inside the 15, no kick out of bounds and no kicks returned, I also have 3 tackles on those 13 kick-offs, I’ve only attempted 1, 40 yard field goal and it was blocked…I can send film of some games and I can send film of onside kicks, kick-offs and field goals…I practice at least 3 times a week as well as normal team practices, we have 3 games left in our season and I am looking for ANY indoor football team that is interested in trying out kickers…please contact me…207-636-0413 www. myspace. com/camlandscaping

Those interested in trying out should arrive one hour prior to tryout start time for registration. Players should dress in workout gear and have sneakers unless noted below. Pads will NOT be worn.
All participants will be required to sign a waiver and pay a registration fee by cash or money order only – no checks or credit cards will be accepted the day of the tryouts.

COLUMBUS, OH - The Columbus Destroyers will hold an open tryout at the Destroyers Practice Facility, located at 6124 Busch Boulevard , Columbus , OH 43229 , from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Participants will have the opportunity to display their talents to the Destroyers’ coaching staff with a chance for a spot on the 2009 Training Camp roster.
Players interested in participating in the tryout will want to fill out the pre-registration form. Cost is $65 (pre-registered, registration form filled out and faxed in before Oct. 2) and $75 (walk-up, registration form filled out at the door on Oct. 4).
To pre-register, completed forms need to be faxed to Destroyers Assistant General Manager Matt Tremblay at (614) 246-4300. All participants will pay at the door. Only cash will be accepted. Cost will include a Destroyers T-shirt.
The tryout will consist of a 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, bench press, standing broad jump, position drills, one-on-one drills and group drills. Dress for the tryout should be T-shirt, shorts and shoes worn on an indoor FieldTurf surface. All participants must be 18 years or older.

The playoff guaranteed Arizona Rattlers announced the team’s second off-season open tryout today. The event, which any player can attend, will take place on Saturday, January 19th, 2008, at Alamo Stadium in San Antonio , Texas .
Head Coach Kevin Guy and staff will be on the field evaluating all the potential new Rattlers. The team will be working out all positions except for kickers.
Registration will begin at 12pm that day, with the workout lasting until about 5pm. Participants will pay a registration fee of $80 (cash only) on the day of the workout to attend. However, players can pre-register at a discounted rate of $60 (payable by credit card) by calling 956-843-5658 up to the day before the workout.
In the event of rain, the tryout will proceed as scheduled.
The entire tryout will take place on field turf at Alamo Stadium. Not to be confused with the Alamo Dome, Alamo Stadium is located at 760 Stadium Drive ; San Antonio , Texas 78216 . The 23,000 seat facility was built in 1940 and has a rich football tradition. The San Antonio Gunslingers of the USFL made their home there in 1984-85, and the stadium has also hosted the Alamo Bowl.

2nd Annual Arena Football League Combine
Last June, MSL Sports headed to Las Vegas for the first ever Arena Football League Combine. With a number of top-flight athletes gaining exposure, the event was considered a huge success.
On July 28, the spotlight will fall on New Orleans for the 2nd Annual Arena Football League Combine, which will be held at the New Orleans Saints’ practice facility in Metairie, Louisiana.
This combine is being held in conjunction with Arena Bowl XXI. All AFL teams had coaches in attendance at last year’s event as were representatives from various NFL teams.
“Last year, we saw so many quality football players who attended the event,” said MSL Partner Chuck Muncie. “I think what will happen this year is through word of mouth, we will have several other standout athletes who missed out last year.”
A PERSONAL WEBSITE
Each athlete who participates in the combine will receive his own personal website. Upon registering for the combine, athletes will be given a username and password to access their website.
Once the combine is complete, each athlete will have the ability to promote themselves by sending their website link with combine statistics, video, and digitized game film to agents and professional leagues around the globe.
“It’s a combination that we use with our high school athletes,” Muncie explained. “Kids get the chance to send schools to their website to see what they are all about.”
“ At this level, the players can forward their websites to agents as well as NFL, CFL and arena teams across the country,” Muncie added.
